Program Grants and Funding Resources

 

Staples Foundation. The Staples Foundation for Learning supports community programs that enhance education and job skills, especially for disadvantaged youth. Grant range: $1,000-$25,000.

Oklahoma Foundation DataBook.
The Oklahoma Foundation DataBook is the only directory in Oklahoma that lists every foundation in Oklahoma and profiles grants made by Oklahoma’s largest foundations.

Youth Garden Grant Program. The National Gardening Association and Home Depot are awarding Youth Garden Grants to schools, organizations, and community programs. Applicants must plan to garden in 2007 with at least 15 children between the ages of three and 18 years. Priority will be given to programs that emphasize one or more of these elements: educational focus or curricular/program integration; nutrition or plant-to-food connections; environmental awareness/education; entrepreneurship; and social aspects of gardening such as leadership development, team building, community support, or service-learning.

Arts Organization Offers Mini-Grants for Youth Initiative. Art21, producer of the PBS series Art:21—Art in the Twenty-First Century, is launching the national pilot of Youth Engagement, a screening and discussion-based outreach initiative. This nonprofit is currently accepting proposals for creative ways to use the initiative with middle and high school youth. Ten pilot sites will be awarded grants, and 40 additional sites will be given DVDs, group discussion guides, and creative ideas and events to use in youth-focused organizations. To receive the call for proposals, send an e-mail with your name and affiliation to outreach@art21.org.
 
Grants for Projects that Enhance Physical Health. The Balance Bar Company is offering grants of up to $25,000 to youth organizations that develop projects that help communities pursue a sport or recreational activity that enhances physical health. Past grants have supported the purchase of equipment, training, and other activities related to archery, cycling, hiking, martial arts, running, yoga, and others.

21st Century Community Learning Centers. The focus of this program is to provide expanded academic enrichment opportunities for children attending low performing schools. Tutorial services and academic enrichment activities are designed to help students meet local and state academic standards in subjects such as reading and math. In addition, 21st CCLC programs provide youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, technology education programs, art, music and recreation programs, counseling and character education to enhance the academic component of the program.

Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. Inherent in all Mott Foundation grantmaking is the desire to enhance the capacity of individuals, families or institutions at the local level and beyond. The Foundation hopes that its collective work in any program area will lead toward systemic change.

Sarkeys Foundation. The mission of the Sarkeys Foundation is to improve the quality of life in Oklahoma. With assets of approximately $100 million, the Foundation provides grants to a diverse group of nonprofit organizations and institutions, almost all of which are located in Oklahoma. It also provides a range of training and educational opportunities for Oklahoma nonprofit organizations.

Dell Foundation. The corporate-giving division of Dell Inc. is committed to contributing significantly to the quality of life in communities where Dell employees live and work—including Oklahoma City. The Foundation supports innovative and effective programs that provide fundamental prerequisites to equip youth to learn and excel in a world driven by the digital economy. The Foundation supports a wide range of programs that benefit children newborn to 18 years old in Dell’s principle U.S. locations, and welcomes proposals from nonprofit organizations that address the health and human service, educational, and technology access needs of youth.

Communities Foundation of Oklahoma. The Communities Foundation of Oklahoma is a philanthropic organization that provides the means for meeting, on a permanent basis, the broad and changing needs of Oklahomans by providing communities, and thereby charitable individuals and institutions across the state, an open, fair and inclusive process for developing and administering a variety of funds for the present and future benefit of all of Oklahoma. For nearly a decade, the Foundation has worked statewide to create and invest endowment funds from private capital for public investment without geographic limitations.

Mattel Children’s Foundation. Mattel Children’s Foundation is accepting applications for grants of $5,000 to $25,000 for organizations serving children in need. Proposals that focus on the following three areas will receive priority: supporting children’s health and promoting active lifestyles; increasing access to education and promoting literacy; and promoting self-esteem in girls through age 12.
