The Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County are armed with a brand new multi-million dollar facility, non-profit partners, and a dynamic staff; all of which bolstered 500 students during the 2011 summer program! All these great resources strengthen their Triple Play Program which focuses on improving the Mind, Body, and Soul!

Complete with a massive skateboard ramp, a concert stage, and several gaming stations equipped with both Wii and Xbox 360 consoles On The Rock Ministries provides activities for all interests.

After spending an afternoon at McKinley Elementary I participated in arts and crafts and real live rocket launch experiment! CASP actively engages youth in learning activities beyond the school hours, creating a safe environment for youth to not only learn the curriculum, but experience it!

NOVO Ministries
The Community Impact Initiative
NOVO, the Latin word for “change”, means just that for the Oak Grove Housing Community. Through comprehensive training staff members are able to impact nearly 400 children, equipping them with invaluable tools that will propel them into excellence! NOVO Ministries is able to train each staff member to educate students in the practice of decision making and life skills by incorporating Christian principles into daily activities. Staff members are also required to receive Tutoring Training specifically for math and reading!

Village Library Arts Program
After spending an afternoon at the Village Library Arts program I was introduced to the new side of the library decorum! With the use of a smooth radio station and a smorgasbord of light snacks, students began to put their imaginations to work. Armed with brushes, a beautiful array of paints, and a blank canvas, students spend six weeks creating quite a stir in the Village Library!

Upon entering an elementary school after 3 pm you may expect to find the hallways buzzing with anxious students ready to return home. However, for Rosa Parks Elementary students, at 3 pm you may find them organizing a dodge ball team or building a tower made of hoola-hoops!

JETS Afterschool Program
Look at the amazing things JETS is doing in afterschool! During my visit I witnessed creative story telling, competitive reading games, and enjoyed a wonderful nutritious snack! Dedicated to taking students to taking students on a once in a lifetime adventure! Using a five year comprehensive curriculum that focuses on life-skills and positive choices, JETS aims to create well rounded individuals and equip them with skills necessary to make positive choices.

STEM learning is alive in the small, rural Oklahoma community of Henryetta. With limited resources, the P.A.W.S program provides a fascinating window in to the world for its students. With a deep understanding of the important role the aerospace industry plays in our state, Venable works hard to introduce the concepts of space and flight to P.A.W.S. students.
